Suddenly on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at her home in Smith Falls at the age of 51. Melody is survived by her husband Brian Ristimaki, her mother Elizabeth ‘Betty’, and her sisters Jennifer Jo (JJ) and Roberta Lynn (Bobbi). She is preceded in death by her father Neville John Eric Brown. Melody was born on April 21 at the Riverside Hospital in Ottawa. She grew up just outside of a little town called Vars. She attended Russell Public School and North Dundas District High School in Winchester. After high school, Melody took courses at Algonquin College and Guelph University. Melody’s ultimate passion was baking and found her career as bakery manager for a large chain grocery store. Because of her expertise and talents, she was often tasked out from store to store to trouble shoot problems and help increase revenue. Melody loved music! She sang in elementary school choir, often sang solos, and sang in church. She dabbled in the clarinet, took voice lessons, and learned to play classical guitar. In addition to loving music, Melody had a green thumb. She preferred to garden and appreciated the fruits of her labour. Harvest in autumn was her favourite times of year, and every year would make jams and jellies from her garden. She loved the outdoors and treasured camping and fishing with her husband, Brian. Melody was very crafty as well, making many items from material including placemats and quilts. Melody Anne will be remembered for her powerful and bold spirit, large laugh, fierce passion and her many talents including, her beautiful garden, flower arrangements, her sewing, her quilts, soap on a rope, jams, and her chickens! Melody will forever be on our hearts!
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. on Tuesday October 5 from 2-4 pm. and 7-9 pm. and from 10-10:45 am on Wednesday October 6. A Memorial Service will follow in the chapel at 11 am. Please be advised that Covid-19 precautions are still in effect; we respectfully request that attendees wear a mask and that 6 feet of social distancing measures be observed inside and outside of the funeral home.
