Obituary of Melinda Penner
Melinda Penner 96, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home.
She is survived by her brother, Wilbert (Helen) Penner, brother-in-law, Walter Brandt, sister-in-law, Helen Penner, nephew Tim (Janice) Penner and nieces, Wendy McKay and Bonnie Penner, grand-nephews, Greg (Jodie) Rempel (Brynnley & Savannah), Derek Penner and Travis (Suzanne) Penner and grand-nieces, Kathy (Jonathan) Wiens (Carson & Grace), and Candice (Gordon) Kroeker.
Melinda was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katharine Penner, brother, Jim Penner, sister, Alice Brandt and niece, Sheryl Rempel.
Melinda was born on December 22, 1924 in the Steinbach area, the oldest of four children. She spent her childhood and early adult life on the family farm. She moved to Winnipeg in the early 1950’s and worked in a sewing factory until her retirement. She joined the Aberdeen Evangelical Mennonite Church.
She enjoyed going on trips and out for a meal with family and friends. Melinda was always grateful for all the people that gave her rides to church and many places around Manitoba. She enjoyed singing in the Keenagers Choir. She also volunteered at Child Evangelism Fellowship in Winnipeg.
A private family service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Melinda may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Manitoba, 179 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2L 1L5.
Special thanks to the staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in Winnipeg for the care Melinda received during the many years she was in their care.
