Melbourne Robar
1938-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Melbourne Fred Robar on Saturday May 29th, while resting peacefully at
Hillside Pines nursing home, after a prolonged illness. Born on Nov 9,
1938, to the late Zenas (Forman) and Hilda Robar, Mel was also
pre-deceased by his brothers, Lester, Ray and Gary, and sisters,
Shirley, Millie, and Margie, as well as half brothers and sisters
Clyde, Beatrice, Gladys, and Reggie. He is survived by his sister
Audrey, whom he enjoyed speaking with every day.
Mel was a
man that cared deeply for his family and friends. There was nothing he
wouldn’t do for anyone in need. Those that knew Mel, know he
was great at remembering events and dates. If ever you wanted to know
when something happened, all you had to do was ask, and he’d
have the story, with more detail than you could imagine. While Mel was
unmarried, and had no children of his own, he treated his many nieces
and nephews as his children. Mel’s life was spent helping
others, as he worked with his brothers’ trucking businesses.
He then took a long-time job at the Bridgewater Fire Department as the
caretaker. There, he built many friendships which he cherished deeply
and was very proud to have been made an Honorary Associate Member of
the Bridgewater Fire Department, after his retirement. Even in his
last conversations, he would love to share stories, and laugh about
this “family”. His continued invites to the
Fireman’s Banquets were appreciated by him.
Mel
was always grateful of the support of his family whenever he suffered
a setback. These times, while difficult, made him happy, as he had his
family around him, looking out for him. With that, he knew he was
loved. He stated many times, how important family was to him. Mel was
very thankful for the great care he received in his later years, from
our local hospitals, and at Hillside Pines nursing home. He was amazed
by the effort they gave to support him.
Due to current
Covid restrictions, there will be no service at this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to R A Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville
and flowers are welcomed. Donations may also be made to the
Bridgewater Fire Department, the Ambulatory Care unit at SSRH, or

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Melbourne Robar 19382021..
