CURRIE, MAVIS GERALDINE
The passing of Mavis Geraldine Currie of Fredericton , NB , wife of the late George Sterling Currie occurred on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Windsor Court Retirement Residence. Born on July 21, 1931 in Keswick Ridge , NB , she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Wiggins) Jones. Mavis did clerical work for the New Brunswick Provincial Department of Tourism at Mactaquac Park . After her retirement, Mavis volunteered with various charitable organizations and worked on the family genealogy. She was a life member of the Keswick Ridge Womens Institute and also a member of the Mactaquac Progressive Conservative Riding Association. Mavis was affiliated with the Keswick Ridge United Church .
Mavis is survived by her daughter, Valerie Garden (Doug) of Martensville , SK ; grandsons, Sean, Kyle and Robin; brothers, Arden Jones (Suzanne) of Fredericton , NB and Edmund Jones (Helen) of Miramichi , NB ; sister in law, Ardith Lawrence; brother in law, Merle Sharpe; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by her infant grandson, Ian Fleming; sisters, Florence Sharpe and Evelyn Grant ( Quincy ); infant brother, Gordon and brothers, Durwood Jones and Alvah Jones (Madeline).
The family of Mavis Currie would like to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to the Windsor Court Family for their love, support and care over the past 5 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Due to the current health restrictions people will be required to provide proof of vaccinations as well as government issued ID. Masks will be required. Public is welcome to view the live stream at www.yorkfh.com. There will be no reception; a private family interment will take place in Scotch Settlement Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Scotch Settlement Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
