Obituary
Mavis Theresa (Glaspy) Wisted went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, February 22, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving daughters and niece, Gail Furlong. Born in Saint John on July 21, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Marie Jane (Mallait) Glaspy.
Mavis was an RN, graduating from The Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing. She touched the hearts of many and was a friend to all. She will be remembered as a very caring, fun loving lady with sage advice and words of wisdom. Mavis loved to travel and shop, she enjoyed playing cards at the church for years. She was very creative and loved to write poetry and paint.
Mavis was a very loving mother to Cathy Buckley, Nancy Lang, Debbie Wisted and Marilyn (Gary) Winters. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Kyle, Brian and Corey Winters, Alyson Lang and Holly Green, as well as her 8 great grandchildren.
Left to carry on the legacy is the last surviving member of the Glaspy family, youngest sister Sandra (Fred) Savoie of Neguac, N.B, as well as sister-in-law, Jeannette Glaspy and brother-in-law, Ronald Wisted. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Wisted, sister, Ann Wisted and brothers, George, Harold, Roy, Father Jack, Bill, Mike and Joe.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to these uncertain times and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held with burial to take place at in the Spring. For those who wish, donations in Mavis’ memory to Romero House, the Canadian Liver Foundation, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
