Obituary
With sadness, the McGuire family announces the passing of Maureen McGuire in Quesnel, British Columbia.
Maureen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, educated in Hanley, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, and attended Saskatoon Normal School. Following a year of teaching at Gronlid, she attended St. Thomas More College in Saskatoon, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Maureen taught school in Calgary, Alberta and attended painting and drawing classes at the University of Calgary. After returning to Saskatchewan and teaching briefly in Swift Current, she relocated to northern British Columbia. Maureen taught at the Nazko First Nation before settling in Quesnel, where she was active in teaching, and in literary and art associations.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents John Ernest and Janet McGuire, and by her brothers Daniel and Patrick. She is survived by her siblings Jack McGuire, Sheila Ross, Brian McGuire, Larry McGuire and Michael McGuire, and their families.
We would like to thank Maureen’s friends and the staff at Dunrovin Park Lodge in Quesnel, who provided her with companionship and care for the past several years.
A private Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1:00pm. Live stream will be available by clicking the button found below.
