Obituary
Maureen (Moe) McKenzie
June 4th 1946 – September 17th, 2021
Beloved mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. Her favourite name was mom to her most favourite and only son William and grandma Louie to her prized possessions, her grandchildren Ben & Lilly.
Moe spent most of her life in Selkirk, in the early years figure skating on the red river, becoming a nurse and later becoming her families biggest supporter in every sport they tried.
Nothing made Moe prouder than to see her son accomplish his dreams of becoming an International Judo Player. Everyone associated with the Provincial Judo Team knew who Moe was, they all knew they could rely on her to be there at every tournament and fundraiser causing mischief and supporting every single judoka.
All the children in her life could depend on Moe, she supported them all in everything they did, Moe could be found on the front row of many cold arenas bundled up and cheering loudly.
She followed her Selkirk Steelers to all home and most away games in the 80’s.
Moe loved a good story, and would tell anyone who would listen about her grandchildren, they meant the world to her. She was Ben’s biggest Hockey fan, and Lilly’s largest art collector.
Even in Moe’s final days she was able to make her family giggle, and she was surrounded by so much love.
We’ll love you forever,
We’ll like you for always,
As long as we’re living,
Our Moe you will be
