Maudie Elizabeth Boyle
1934-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Maudie Elizabeth Boyle, 87, on May 28, 2021 at Victoria General
Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born in Clones, NB, she was the eldest
daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Mitchell (McKay) and was
predeceased by her husband, Allison Boyle and sister, Ruby
Phillips.
Maudie is survived by her children, Cynthia (Tim) Cheek
(Coppell, Texas), Wayne (Liz) Boyle (Halifax, NS), and Celena Boyle
(Oakville, ON); grandchildren Courtney Cheek, Sam Boyle, Alyxandra
Crepsac, Caitlin Cheek, Jane Boyle, Cathryn Cheek, Daniel Boyle,
Benito Crepsac and a large, loving extended family.
Maudie was a proud New Brunswicker and lived in many parts of
the province before marrying Allison Boyle in 1958. She resided in New
Maryland for 60 years in the home that she and Allison built and where
they raised their family. After working at Niagara Finance and the
Capital Co-op, she was a homemaker before returning to work at the
Bank of Nova Scotia in Fredericton until her retirement in 1997.
Maudie was a long-standing member of the New Maryland United Church
where she served in many capacities and volunteered as Treasurer and a
Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved to sing and was an
active member of the church choir, as well as a long-standing member
of the United Church Women (UCW) and The New Maryland
Women’s Institute. She was an avid baker and cook, known for
her rolls and mustard pickles, and was the first to respond with a
meal for those in need. Quilting and playing games were favorite
past-times with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was being a
mother and grandmother and she enjoyed travelling often to see her
children and grandchildren in Dallas, Oakville and Halifax. She was
able to visit Ireland, England, and partake in Caribbean cruises and
several bus trips to various locales in the US and Canada. Despite the
distance involved, she was on a plane or in her car attending every
event and celebration possible. In early 2020, she relocated to
Halifax to be closer to Wayne and his family.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restriction, a
Celebration of Life service at the New Maryland United Church, NB,
will be planned and announced once COVID restrictions are
lifted.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Colorectal Cancer
Canada Society (Donation Form (donorperfect.net)) or the New Maryland
United Church (New Maryland United Church | Charity Profile | Donate
Online | Canadahelps).
We gratefully thank McAdam’s Funeral Home for
assistance with burial and arrangements.
