Obituary of Mary Joan Brophy
Joan passed peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge with her husband and sons by her side on Monday May 24th, 2021 at the age of 80. Predeceased by parents Joe and Marie Ranger from Pembroke and brother Kevin from Quispamsis, NB. Survived by beloved siblings Judith in Petawawa and Clifford in Pembroke. Loving wife to Patrick of 57 years, cherished mother to Paul (Carole) and Joe (Lynne), and treasured grandmother to Emily, Benjamin, Luke, and Samantha. Joan will also be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was raised in Pembroke Ontario and began her teaching career in Petawawa, Ontario. Joan continued her career in Ottawa and taught at St. Augustine’s elementary school. She moved with her family to Manotick Ontario where she taught at St. Leonard’s elementary school, eventually taking on the additional role of Vice Principal. She completed her teaching career as Head of English at St. Marks High School in Manotick. She enjoyed a wonderful retirement life with her husband living by the lake, travelling the world, and living winters in Florida.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a later date. In memory of Joan, donations to St. Lawrence Lodge in Brockville, ON would be gratefully appreciated by her family.
