Obituary of Mary Hadley
Mary Hadley
December 29, 1931~ January 23, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Hadley announce her passing on January 23, 2021.
Mary was born in Blaine Lake, SK on December 29, 1931. She grew up on the family farm near Blaine Lake. She attended Marcelin Business College and later worked as a Bank Teller in Marcelin, before moving to Prince Albert.
In 1954 she married Ken, her husband of 53 years. In Prince Albert, she began working at Mann Motors as a bookkeeper before she chose to become a stay at home mother to her three daughters. When her family was grown, Mary went to work at Sears until her retirement.
Mary is survived by her three daughters: Carla (Doug Johnson), Lois (Rob Komaike), Raeleen (John Cannon); five grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris Lafaver), Bryce Komaike, Jared Komaike, Regan Cannon, Lindsay Cannon; two great grandchildren Mya and Maddox Lafaver; brother Henry (Janet) Popoff; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Ken, brother Alexander Popoff, and parents William and Helen Popoff.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She spent many summers sharing her time between gardening (at times having three gardens on the go at once) and the many lakes of Saskatchewan fishing and camping with family. She enjoyed hosting visitors, always serving an abundant amount of food. She was a hard-working woman who would help family and neighbors in any way she could.
Mary loved country music, listening to CKBI all day long, attending Craven Big Valley Jamboree and travelling to Nashville for the CMA awards. She loved to travel and managed to make it to Russia, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico and Italy.
She liked to be active. She enjoyed walking outdoors along the Rotary Trail or indoors. She walked 2 miles a day, 5 days a week until age 85.
Her grandchildren had a lot of “grandma time” whether it was special meals at lunch, cheering at sporting events, teaching how to pinch a perogy or fishing at Candle Lake.
She was a wonderful mother and will be missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Mont St. Joseph for the care they provided Mom and for welcoming her into the Mont St. Joseph’s family.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 26 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
Due to restrictions, a Private Family Service will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28 Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery.
