Obituary
Our beloved Mary passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on Monday, January 11, 2021. Mary was born on March 31, 1959 to Dick and Judy Ryan. We would like to thank the warm and loving staff at the Rockyview Hospital for their exceptional care and comfort that they provided to Mary over the past few months. As the eldest of five children, Mary grew up in Edmonton and Calgary. She was a loving, creative, artistic, and free-spirited soul. Mary was always known for her artistic and creative flair with calligraphy and other forms of penmanship. She was the family calligrapher and often asked to do wedding invitations and any other occasion that called for beautiful penmanship. She loved her cats and dogs dearly and was a lover of anything Pink Floyd and Steven King. In 1987, she married Jim Galandy. As avid motorcyclists, Jim and Mary enjoyed touring on their Harleys in and around Western Canada. Mary lived and died by her own rules, she was a fighter and a very loving soul beneath the sometimes-hard surface. Among her many jobs, Mary enjoyed most her role as a Teachers Aid with special needs students and as a Health Care Aid at the Rockyview. She had much empathy and love to give and shone bright when helping others. Mary is survived by her loving partner Sheldon Jamieson. Mary will be deeply missed by Sheldon, her mother Judith Ryan, her brothers and sisters Richard Ryan (Kimberley), Rob Ryan (Lloy), Lise Brown, Rachel Ryan (Spencer), and Wendy & David Cairns, her nieces and nephews Justin, Meaghan, Paige, Katherine, Adam, Amy, Morgan, Nichelle, Kelsie, Jessica, Kane.

Dear Ryan family,
I am so sad to hear of Mary’s passing. She always had that fun little twinkle in her eye with the cutest of smirks. I loved that I got to work with her when she was my aid at St Angela’s for 4 years. She was excellent with the kids and had really special relationships with teach of them. We had lots of fun times for sure. Praying for her in my daily rosary.
