Mary Anna Rieck
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Mary, on November 24, 2021, at the age of 93. She has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to reunite with the love of her life, our father, William (Bill). Mom was born June 28, 1928, in Nova Scotia to Lida and James Cormier.
Mary devoted her entire life to her family over the many years she was here with us. The last several years were difficult for her, but she always had a smile and wanted everyone to carry on and be happy. She would always say, “Life is too short, enjoy what time you have here on earth.”
She has now joined our dad who passed in November of 2014. She leaves behind seven children: Violet (Harold), Kenneth (Darlene), Susan (Ken), Judy (Richard), Robert, Cathy (Steve), and Beverly. She also has 16 Grandchildren and 27 Great-Grandchildren. All of whom will miss her dearly.
Mom’s faith in the Lord and the support of Pastor Hamp gave her the strength to continue on after the passing of our Dad. We truly appreciate the time he took to come and visit with her once a month and to help prepare her for the final days. Also, thanks to Pastor Andy Schroth who visited Mom during her last days in Hospice.
Most of all, I want to thank everyone for all the assistance I received from the PSW’s and Nurses who came in to help Mom through each day at home. A special thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses, PSW’s and volunteers during her stay at Sakura House Hospice for their kind words and the love and support they gave our Mom.
Mary’s Immediate family will have a closed viewing from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, November 26, 2021. There will be a further viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021. We ask guests to follow any protocol required to attend visitation and are reminded that masks are mandatory.
A service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church (247 Westmount Rd. E, Kitchener) the following day on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. The family will gather at Memory Gardens, her final resting place directly after the service. All attending Mary’s visitation and funeral service must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling the funeral home directly.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sakura House Hospice-Woodstock, The Canadian Cancer Society or Faith Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
My life is but an instant, an hour that passes by; a single day that slips my grasp and quickly slides away. Lord, keep my family safe and fill their hearts with joy knowing that I am now in your gracious hands walking through your beautiful garden hand in hand with the one I have missed for these past years. Fill their hearts with the knowledge that we will all be together one day living in your glory.
