MACLENNAN, Mary Theresa (nee Gordon)
Peacefully in her daughter’s home, following a stay in hospital, on Thursday, January 28th, 2021 in Peterborough, Ontario, in her 94th year. Born in 1927 in North Monaghan Township to parents Isadore and Violet Gordon (nee Forsythe), the eldest of five children. Devoted wife of Angus, predeceased. Treasured mother of Rosemary (Graeme) Cripps, surviving, and Anne Marie MacLennan, predeceased. Loving grandmother to Jason and Geoffrey Cripps. Survived by her adored sister Elizabeth “Betty” Mitchell and predeceased by siblings Jean Bryan (Gerald), Norma Foster (Lloyd) and John Gordon (Mary). Mary remained throughout her life a caring and devoted aunt and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She also held the special title of honorary mother and grandmother to many others.
Mary was called to nursing at an early age and worked for many years as a Registered Nurse before becoming a full time mother. She loved being a nurse and was known to be very caring and compassionate. This care and compassion continued throughout her lifetime after her retirement. Her faith, devotion, and loyalty to family, friends and others set her apart in this world. She always made time for everyone, be it to talk or listen, and though her counsel she encouraged and supported many lives. Mary always saw the good in people and made you feel you could be your best. She enjoyed her life and treasured all gatherings with family throughout the years. Through her selfless nature she imprinted her spirit on everyone she met and has left behind a true legacy of altruism in humanity.
A service for Mary will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Alternative Funeral Home. Donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Peterborough) and condolences may be made through the funeral home online. www.CommunityAlternative.ca
