MARY JEAN (BARBER) CUNDARI
Born May 28, 1935 in Nipissing, Ontario to Laughlin and Elizabeth (Floyd) Barber (both deceased). Loving wife of Frank Cundari (deceased) and Mother to son Mike Cundari and wife Diane (Anger) of Windsor and Daughters Cathy Seguin and husband Pierre of North Bay, and Kim Tremblay and husband Roger of Deep River, and Grandmother to Amanda Pemberton (David), Sarah Cundari (Adam), Jeff Seguin (Stacey), Lindsay Seguin (Lynette), and Kyle Tremblay and Great Grandmother to Griffin Seguin and Grace Seguin, Autumn Pemberton, and Great, Great Grandmother to Aiyanna Pemberton.
Mary Jean spent her early years in Nipissing, moved to Porcupine and lived in the north with her brothers and sisters: Wilmer (deceased) (Beverly), Isobel Davidson (Jack-deceased), Anne O’Connor, Claire Proulx (Victor), Joan O’Connor (deceased), Shirley Barber (Bob Johnson), Jim Barber (Pat), John Barber (Gloria), She moved to North Bay to attend school.
Mary Jean dedicated her life to raising her family and supported many community organizations as a volunteer. She was a member of Girl Guides of Canada as an adult leader, she spent many years with the Catholic Women’s League holding various positions on the Diocesan Council and was an active member of the St. Peter’s Church CWL. She was honored for her exemplary service with a Maple Leaf Award from the CWL. Mary Jean held the position as the President of the Fire Chief’s Wives Association and supported her husband in his role as the Deputy Fire Chief with the City of North Bay.
Mary Jean has always enjoyed her life on the lake and sharing her time with family, friends and nature. She enjoyed skiing, and walking and would sometimes upstage Frank with the “catch of the day” which earned her bragging rights.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many Health Care Professionals that helped us through this journey. Special thanks to Dr. Jinnah and Dr. Aylett and for the support of her Family Physician Dr. Cuncins for his care over the years. Mom was blessed to receive support through the VON with weekly services provided by Sherri Drinkwalter and to the Alzheimers Society Recreation Therapy Services of Jess Oates and Sophie Desjardin. Thank you also to our very special friend, Lynne Weston who stayed by our sides and gave loving support to Mom and our entire family.
Join us in celebrating a life well lived. Visitation will be on Wednesday September 1, from 2 to 4 pm. and 7 to 9 pm at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Road, North Bay. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday September 2 at St. Peter the Apostle Church on Airport Rd. at 10:30 a.m. See hillsidefuneral.ca for detailed information and information regarding a zoom link for the funeral mass. As per current COVID 19 directives the total number of attendees is limited, social distancing requirements must be respected, and masks or face coverings are required inside the funeral home and at the church.
