Mary passed away peacefully at home at the age of 91 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased in 2014 by her husband of 63 years, James Milton Roddy. Predeceased also by her parents, Ruth and Joseph Cunningham and her brother, Robert, all of Petrolia. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Tenhoeve (Gerrit) of Powell River, B.C. and sister-in-law, “Bunny” Cunningham of Petrolia. Loving mother of Linda DiMuzio (Lou), Diane Roddy (Roger Smith), Bruce Roddy (Susan), and Carol Roddy (Rory). She will be greatly missed by 11 grandchildren; Dan (Terra), Tara, Erica (Nick), Lauren (William), Matthew (Jen), Allison, Brenden (Sloane), Erin, Spencer, Grant and Anne. Mary was a proud great grandmother of Indie, Savannah, Aylen, Elinor, Abigail, Thomas and Mark. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. Mary graduated as a RegNurse from Hamilton General in 1951 and worked at Sarnia General Hospital while she raised her family. She loved looking after her continuing care patients and often bought them birthday and Christmas presents. She attended Paterson Memorial Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, served on the session and on several committees. Mary loved baking bread and spoiled her family with delicious desserts and meals. She loved sailing, woodworking and traveling with her husband. Together they built many beautiful pieces of furniture and even converted a van into a camper which they used when traveling across Canada. She also attended many musicals and theatre productions with friends. Mary was a warm and generous person with a great sense of humor. She was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thank you to Dr. Uppal, VON nurses, Bay Shore, Shine at Home and PSWs who helped keep her at home and made her last days comfortable. Cremation has taken place.
