Barr: Mary Mowat,
1931 – 2021
Peacefully passed away from Alzheimers surrounded by her family at Sherwood Court Long Term Care January 27. Loving wife of the late George. Dear mother of George (Nicci) and Elaine. Proud Grandma of Carrie and Alex (Katie). Predeceased by her sister Jean (Jimmy ) Greer and brothers Charlie(Effie), Ricky(Margaret) and Sandy(Joan) Robertson. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Sadie (Andy) Mason, Ethel (late Rolf) Kotke, and her many nieces , nephews and extended family in Canada and the U.K.
Heartfelt thank you to the entire Nobles Court Staff for their loving care over the past almost five years. Special thanks to Tess for her thoughtfulness in making Mary comfortable, surrounding her with her favourite, colourful stuffed animals and throws and sharing stories about her with us making a difficult time a little easier.
Deep appreciation to the family members of the other residents in Nobles Court. You made it a truly supportive community and often stopped by for a visit with Mary or offered her a cheery ‘hello’ and always watched out for her when you were there visiting your own loved ones.
We would also like to express our great respect to the entire staff at Sherwood Court for your efforts in keeping residents safe through this past very difficult year. If you wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society of York Region would be appreciated.
Due to Covid-19 a celebration of Mary’s life may be held at a later date. Condolensces may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com
Do Not Ask Me To Remember
Do not ask me to remember.
Don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you’re with me.
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.
I’m confused beyond your concept.
I am sad and sick and lost.
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost.
Do not lose your patience with me.
Do not scold or curse or cry.
I can’t help the way I’m acting,
Can’t be different though I try.
Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me,
Love me ‘til my life is done.
