Mary B. MacLean
1943-2021
Mary Barbara MacLean, 78 years old, passed away on the 25 th
of September 2021 at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou. She
was born on September 20 th, 1943, in Blenheim, Ontario to Stefan and
Barbora (Durgo) Barko. She was a mother, a gramma and a loyal
friend.
Mary grew up in Blenheim, Ontario as she was the first
Canadian born child in her family that emigrated from Czechoslovakia
in 1938. She graduated from Blenheim High School in Blenheim, Ontario
in 1961. She joined the Air Force in 1961 and served for 4 years as a
meteorologist. She was discharged in 1966. Mary wed Dennis Ritchie in
1963 in Blenheim, Ontario. They were married for 3 years and she gave
birth to a beautiful daughter named Cheryl. In 1968 she met David
MacLean, married him in 1972 and moved to Trenton with him and her
daughter. She began work for Michelin as a Material Tester where she
worked for 35 years. She enjoyed gardening in her many gardens,
painting, rock, and shell collecting, swimming and loved traveling and
going on her yearly cruises. Mary was preceded in death by her husband
David MacLean 2019, her parents, Stefan 1973, Barbora 1948 and
step-mother, Antonia 2008 and her siblings, Jim 1990, Anna 1993,
Stefania 2003, and John 2017.
Mary is survived by her only daughter, Cheryl Anne, (Anthony)
Feltmate of South Lochaber, NS; her grandchildren, Amanda (Tatum)
Snow, Barbara Feltmate, Jason Feltmate; her great-grandchildren, Aidyn
and Grayson Snow and her nieces and nephews and other
relatives.
A memorial service will be held at R.H. Porter Funeral Home,
55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow on Wednesday, October 6th at 1:30pm.
Seating for the service is limited, so please phone
902-752-4122 to pre-register. As per N.S. COVID-19 restrictions, all
attendees must wear a mask and show proof of full
vaccination. Burial will follow at Sunny Brae Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
