MARY ANDERSON
July 5, 1921 – February 3, 2021
Mary Anderson, age 99 years and formerly of Preeceville, SK passed from this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon, SK.
Mary was born July 5, 1921 at Parkerview, SK, second eldest of 13 children of Metro and Nellie Fedak. After completing high school and teacher training, she began her career at Etoimamie Valley School in the Sturgis School Division. She soon met and married her husband Raymond and they were blessed with 6 children. Her love of teaching returned her to the classroom at Robinson Creek, Gold Bank, South Porcupine, Endeavour and finally Preeceville.
Always a hard worker, Mom kept us fed and clothed. She knitted and sewed and made quilts, tended a large garden, canned and froze vegetables and fruit especially the raspberries and strawberries which she grew. She loved flowers and planted them in her garden, planters and pots to be enjoyed and shared. Mom loved her family and was proud that each chose a career, and developed a “green thumb”.
Faith and prayer were important to Mom. She supported children’s ministries and gospel missions. She gladly volunteered in the church and in the community, both in Preeceville and Circle Drive Place where she resided for 21 years.
She will be cherished and remembered by her children: Margaret (Brendan) Brown, Joanne Bye, Evelyn Robson, Walter, Karen Gunn, and Sharon (Dwayne) Kramer; grandchildren: Geoffrey, Daniel and Paul Brown; Kirsten McCullagh and Michael Robson; Victor, Rebecca and Joshua Gunn; and Erik, Phillip and Shawna Hislaw; 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Anna Kirstuik, Ted (Stella), Morris (Grace), Brian (Merle),and Jean (Bob) Perry; sisters-in-law Marge, Betty, Ursula and Sarah; nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond in 1986; her parents Metro and Nellie Fedak; brothers William, Steve, Walter, Boris, George, and John; sister Rose Johnson; granddaughter Erin Hislaw; grandson Gary Gunn; sons-in-law Harlan Bye and Dennis Robson; sisters-in-law: Carol and Patricia; brothers-in-law Loring Johnson and Bill Kirstuik.
