Obituary
Mary Adeline Vickers
Sydney Mines. We, the family of Mary Adeline Vickers, are saddened to announce her passing on November 25, 2021.
Born in Sydney Mines, June 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Christy Ann (MacPhee) Vickers.
Mary was employed by The British Cooperative and retired from The Cape Breton Regional School Board making many life-long friends along the way.
Mary was a talented baker, a skilled knitter, and loved to decorate for any holiday. She looked forward to her weekly hair settings, hosting “club”, bingo nights and day trips to the casino.
In her later years Mary enjoyed watching curling or a Blue Jays game with a sweet treat in hand. Each week she awaited the flyers to arrive browsing through all of them for a deal. Her phone line would often be busy as she chatted with her friend Marguerite multiple times a day.
Mary is survived by her brother Malcolm and his family, Hopewell, NS, and her sister Angela and brother-in-law Walter Stewart with whom she resided for many years.
She was affectionately known as Aunt Mary to Sherri Lynn Stewart, Bethany and Matt Shaw, Matthew MacLennan, her “darlin” great-grandniece Sawyer, and Marylyn Sutherland.
A private family service has been arranged as per Mary’s wishes. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
