Marvin R.’s Obituary
Marv of Fairview (AB) passed away on March 9, 2021 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton (AB) at the age of 81 years. Marv is survived by his wife, June of 59 years; his sons, David, Darwin and Gerald; grandsons, Josh and Cael Lyons and his granddaughter, Arandah Chipman. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Maverick, Lily, Mallory and Rowan; his sisters, Marilyn, Grace, Lori and his brother, John.
Marv was born in Ponoka (AB) to parents, Clarence and Ruby Lyons on June10, 1939. His schooling was in a variety of towns and provinces. He worked in tire repair, janitor, night watchman and he most enjoyed his last part time job driving ne vehicles from point A to point B.
He enjoyed driving holidays, travelling the countryside with an assortment of vehicles and camping units, usually visiting family and friends along the way. He was often accompanied by his children, grandchildren, in-laws or nieces and nephews. He was involved as a leader with cubs and scouts, loved square dancing and card playing was a top enjoyment on his list. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, like building sets for the theater, giving advice on how-to projects whether they be mechanical or wood plans as well as different construction and building projects.
He was loved by a host of family and friends.
If friend so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to your local food bank.
A Memorial Service and campout at Waterhole Hall, south of Fairview (AB) is being planned for sometime in the summer of 2021.
