Marjorie spent her life dedicated to working in the field of early childhood education. She was committed to ensuring Anishinaabemowin was infused right into the curriculum at the Hub Centre, where she spent a good part of her career. Marjorie took great pride in making sure she knew all of her student’s name’s that attended the Hub Centre. She knew the importance of knowing and celebrating their strengths while supporting their challenges. Marjorie continued to mentor her students, even as they grew and got older. To this day, there are many who acknowledge the kind and generous educator she was and the impact she had on their life as a student.
Marjorie was a dedicated cheerleader of all of her children in all recreational activities and although she faced many challenges as a single parent, she always found a way to make sure funds were covered to ensure her children could participate. She was committed to helping with all fund-raising through the years. From bottle drives to bake sales to raffles. Her absolute favourite sport was hockey, she loved watching her children and grandchildren play the game and, for as long as she could, she battled the cold arenas for the love of the game and the way it brought her family together. There were many times there was a whole cheering section made up of family, Mamma, Gramma Wiky, Mom led the way. Marjorie showed many of us the importance of finding and living the good life; all who knew her, all who loved her, will deeply miss her.
