Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marisa Amendola announces her passing at the North Bay Regional Health Center on November 23rd 2021 at the age of 71. Marisa passed peacefully surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer in which she showed incredible strength, grace and courage.
Marisa is survived by her husband of 47 years Fernando Amendola, her beloved children, Diane Dech (Jeff), Rico Amendola (Julie), and Assunta Bitonti (Gabriele); and her cherished grandchildren Alexandra, Michael, Isabella and Alessandre. She is predeceased by her parents Alfredo and Stella Ricciuti. She is the dear sister of Carmine (Anna-Marie) and Hector (Suzanne) Ricciuti and sister in law, Rita (late Vittorio) Manera, Nanda Amendola and the late Mary Amendola. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.
Born on January 19, 1950 in Apriligiano Italy, Marisa immigrated to Canada in 1966 and settled in North Bay Ontario. She was an avid gardener who loved cooking, baking and continuing the tradition she brought from Italy of making sauce and traditional preserves for her cantina. She loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren.
There will be celebration to honour Marisa’s life with a visitation at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, North Bay, on Sunday November 28th, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will take place at 10:30am on Monday November 29th at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 299 Airport Rd, North Bay. As per current COVID-19 directives the total number of attendees is limited, social distancing requirements must be respected, and masks or face coverings are required inside the funeral home and the church.
The family wishes to thank Dr.Petrie, Dr. Hasspieler, Dr.Shulman, Dr. Salako, Dr. Lindsay, the nursing staff on A3 and CCU, the North Bay Regional Health Center Chemo unit for the wonderful care and compassion they provided. They also would like to thank the VON and CCAC for the kindness and consideration they showed to Marisa in the care they provided over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Center Cancer Care fund or the St. Peter the Apostle Church Renovation Fund.
*Due to current COVID public health measures, there will be a luncheon provided for family members only.
