Marion Victoria Everett Dean Sunday June 20th 2021

Marion Victoria Everett
(Dean)
It is with broken hearts that the family of Marion Everett announces her passing at home Sunday June 20, 2021 at the age of 86. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and loyal friend.
Mom met dad at her cousin’s gas station and after a short courtship they were married April 20, 1957.
Mom decided to stay at home and raise their three children. Their house on 22nd side road was the neighbourhood hangout. Mom was extremely busy driving the kids to numerous hockey and baseball practices and games, she even found the time to coach the boys little league baseball team for a few years.
Mom started her career at a very young age as a runner for the Bank of Nova Scotia. Later on she worked at Carpenter’s store on Rosslyn Road, and in 1977 she spearheaded the Boy Scout Shop and ran it for numerous years. She also received her 35 year service pin from the Boy Scouts of Canada.
Mom loved to travel and enjoyed their motor home trip to Alaska, she also loved their many years camping and fishing in Ignace and Madeline Lake. She also enjoyed sneaking across the border with Jennifer to do some gambling. Mom was a very talented knitter and donated hundreds of toques and mitts to various organizations in the community. She also knitted lap blankets for the Cancer Center and dozens of her knitted beanie caps adorned the heads of newborn children at McKellar Hospital.
Moms home and flower beds were her pride and joy and she spent many hours perfecting their appearance.
Marion is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Howard, her daughter Jo Anne Gothard and her son’s Howie of Ignace ON and Randy (Maryn). She is also survived by her granddaughters Jennifer Gothard, Cassie (Brent) Winters of Australia, Jessica (Nathan) Park of Leduc AB, as well as her great grandson Hayden Park.
Marion was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Denise and son-in-law John.
The family would like to thank Dr. Franchi and the staff of Paramed especially Felicia (odd socks) and Donald for all their help in recent months and we would also like to thank her special neighbours Jan and Derek, Kathy and Lance for everything they have done for her these last few months.
As per Marion’s wishes, there will be no formal service, a private family interment will happen at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society in her name would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
