Marion Clarke Friday December 24th 2021

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christina “Marion” Clarke (nee MacNaughton) of Brockville, Ontario, passed into the presence of our Lord, on Dec 24 2021, at age 91 at the Brockville General Hospital.
Cherished wife of 68 years to Bill Clarke. Loving, devoted Mom to Malcolm Clarke (Susan) of Elora, Rob (Sandra) of Ottawa, and Scott of Brockville. Grandmother to Kathryn (Chris), Maggie, Jessie (Tyler), Matthew and Kait. Great-grandmother to Cullen, Gilbert, Lauren and Simon. Survived by her brother Allister MacNaughton (the late Magdalin) of Kemptville, predeceased by her parents, M. Victor and Olive (nee Reid) MacNaughton and brothers John (Helen of Port Langley), Les (Lena), and Carlisle (Joan). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Marion attended business college in Ottawa, and then worked in the office of Bordens, Kemptville, before her marriage to Bill in 1953. She enjoyed working in retail, when her family was younger. She returned to school in the 1980s and became proficient in the then new field of office automation, medical record keeping, word processing and publishing. She worked in healthcare, the Ministry of Resources and finally for Agriculture and Food.
Marion’s greatest joy was her family. She loved her brothers and was a dedicated daughter; her home life, her husband and sons were always a priority. She especially loved being Granny to her five grandchildren becoming their best friends in all of their shared adventures and was always the source of unending fun. Marion was blessed to be a great-granny to four.
Marion was an outstanding athlete throughout her school years, winning many trophies for athlete of the year at Kemptville Highschool. She remained active with Scottish Country dancing, swimming and gardening. She was also very artistic and especially enjoyed quilting, sewing and folk art painting. She loved camping with her family; especially her favourite location, Charleston Lake. Marion was a long time member of First Presbyterian, serving as a Sunday school teacher.
In the 1990s, Marion was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She was fortunate to be part of a resource project at the Ottawa Hospital, led by Dr. Schlossmacher which is funded partially by the Michael J Fox Foundation/Parkinson’s Canada. She applied her computer and organizational skills to document her treatment as a living contribution to the research project.
Quietly driven, always busy, thoughtful, steadfast, forever learning and showing the utmost care to all living things. There was always something more to do, to discover, to engage in, and share with others.
In past years Marion’s constant care from Bill, and son Scott was essential for the management of her Parkinsons, and was responsible for her longevity, and the ability for her to stay in her beloved home. Thank you both; beyond words.
Gratitude to Parkinson’s research specialist Dr. Michael Schlossmacher, The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. David Beattie, Care Partners, CPHC, and more recently Sherwood Park Manor.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either organization would be greatly appreciated; Parkinson Canada, www.parkinson.ca/ , www.parkinson.ca/getinvolved/waystogive/#memory or to First Presbyterian Church, Brockville. Due to covid concerns, a private family service will be held later this week. A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring.
