Obituary of Mario Antonio D’Alessandro
Mario D’Alessandro (1960-2021) – It is with great sadness that we announce Mario’s passing on August 23, 2021 at home surrounded by family. A loving husband to Carmela, devoted father to Michael, beloved uncle to Maria and beloved brother of Frank and Giulio. Cherished son of the late Giovanni and Carmina (Rocco) and son-in-law to Antonio and Maria and brother in-law to Pia. His love for literature, teaching, theatre and hockey was surpassed only by his love for his family, to whom he was completely committed and devoted. He will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank the dedicated nurses and doctors of the Juravinski Cancer Centre. We are also grateful for the wonderful care, support and compassion given to us and in particular to Mario, by Jan, Melissa, Barry, Chris, Jeff, Kelly, Kareem and Liji.
Visitation is at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, Ontario on Thursday August 26, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 165 Prospect Street (at Barton) Hamilton, Ontario, on Friday August 27 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Death notice for the town of: Thorold, Province: Ontario
May the care and love of God and those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. I had the pleasure of sitting beside Mario in Workroom 310 at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School. I enjoyed working and conversing with Mario, who I respected as a witty, erudite gentleman and scholar. My sincere condolences to the D’Alessandro family on the passing of Mario ( a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, friend and colleague). Mario touched the lives of many STM students and staff members.
With compassion,
Paula Milligan
Mr D’Alessandro was a great leader when I was a prefect at St Thomas More. His dedication to students, both past and preset, will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
