Matriarch, our family’s anchor,
Mom, and now our guardian angel.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of
Marilyn Louise Waddell (nee Arnold)
1941 – 2021
Though Marilyn’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled to remain independent. Her later life brought several health setbacks and surgeries, but her indomitable spirit kept her battling against everything fate threw at her. Marilyn finally became too tired to fight another day and peacefully slipped away on the early morning of February 20th, 2021.
We take solace in knowing that Mom is no longer in pain and that she and Dad are reunited along with their dog, Liebchien.
Lucky enough to call her Mom and left to miss her everyday are Kelley Hadley (Murray), Kim Adamson (Kevin), Bill Waddell, and David Waddell (Sandi). Cherished sister of Don Arnold (Liz) and Dianne Quinn (Mike).
A loving Nana to Michael (Jenn), Matthew (Kelsey), Mikkie (Denise), Holly, Jesse (Katie), and great-Nana to Lundon, Hunter, Danika, Quinn, and Chase.
In honouring Marilyn’s wishes, there will not be a public visitation or service. When Covid restrictions allow, a private family get together will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Mom’s favourite charities, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimers Society are always appreciated but not necessary.
We will miss Mom’s constant humour. Her often mentioned quote on dealing with life’s problems was: “What do you do, if you live in a shoe?”
“Move to a boot and get laced.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Online condolences and memories may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marilyn Louise Waddell nee Arnold 2021..
