Obituary
Marilyn Connolly, cherished Mom of Lisa Longstreet (John) of Erin, Ontario, John Connolly (Margaret Pinkney) of Durham, and Joe Connolly (Laura Mannette) of Erin. She was the much loved Nana to her 7 grandchildren Shane, Luke, Brooke, Chelsea, Katie, Emma and Tristan (who we know surprised her at heaven’s door with the impish smile and bear hug only Tristan could give her!) Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Mary Devlin Kaes and Edward A. Kaes, both of Milton, Massachusetts. She was the treasured sister of Dorothy (Honey) Bennett of Milton, MA, and Denise McDonough of Braintree, MA. She is so happy to be reunited with her beloved sister, Barbara Hogan, and her brothers Edward Kaes and Timothy Kaes. She will be missed by her many friends and family both in Canada and in the USA. Marilyn was a loving, quiet, and sweet soul. She was intelligent and reliable and was often sought out in her places of work to edit, organize, and find accounting errors. She was also sought out to entertain fellow staff with her thick Bostonian accent! The excitement of travel plans or a restaurant meal with people she loved were highlights in her life! She was an avid reader, and always said she would be happy forever in a bookstore. Though she loved her home in Canada, and became a Canadian in 2012, Mom always considered herself a proud American. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on the beaches of Cape Cod, eating fried clams with her sisters, in Las Vegas or a casino with her gambling granny friends, or laughing on the phone with kindred spirits. In her last years, she bravely faced the hardships of dementia.
Our family is so very grateful for the blessing of the Elliott Community staff, who cared for Mom with unwavering kindness, dignity, and love. We would also like to thank the Adult Day Program of Erin, and LHIN who provided support prior to Mom’s admission to long-term care, as well as our friends who supported us with visits to our Mom while in care. You will always be the wind beneath our wings, Mom!
