Marilyn Huskinson Friday September 24 2021

Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family. Enjoying 69 years together in this world, Mom and Dad (Bill d. July 9, 2021) have been reunited. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.
Mom was proud of her 6 children – David (Ann), Nancy Poldervaart 1998 (Kees), Paul (Ann), Peggy Brooks (Steve), Sandy Whyte (Steve), and Susan DeBois (John). She was a doting Grandma/Mama to 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mom was the middle child of seven – Agnes, Ruby, Arthur, and Ruth (all deceased), Vera, and Jim. She grew up in the Gananoque area where she and Dad met. They were married in Lansdowne, moved to Belleville, and a few years later settled in Lindsay and grew their family there.
Mom was the quintessential ‘woman behind the man’ and “domestic engineer”. She was small but mighty- lovingly and patiently caring for 6 children in Lindsay during the week while Dad was working on the railway and living in Toronto; until he joined the Lindsay Fire Department. She took pride in our home and all that went with ‘managing’ it. She learned to sew to make clothes for her girls. She helped Dad with the vegetable garden, and canned, pickled, and made jams and jellies from the fruits of their labour. Renowned for her baking Mom not only filled the house with the aroma of her kitchen creations but also with music
Mom was also involved in many Queen Street United Church activities over the years – was a teacher and Superintendent of the Sunday School, a member and President of the UCW a number of times, and loved being part of the choir. She also had various hobbies that we would all receive gifts of – ceramics, candle making, crocheting and cake decorating. She was never idle for long managing a house of 6 children, but still made time to support Dad in all of his community volunteer endeavors.
Mom had a quiet, gentle, and patient nature about her that hid a strong interior developed from hardships of the times growing up. She was a most loving and loved lady, and will be missed greatly.
