1949 – 2021
The family of Marilyn Erman is saddened to announce her passing on August 17, 2021, in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 71 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Les, daughter Tracy, son Mike (Joanne, son Luke), and her four brothers Brian Schoenroth (Bonnie), Dave Schoenroth (Sandra), Jim Kowalyk (Landy), John Kowalyk (Tracy) and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Theresa and father, David. Marilyn was born September 7, 1949 in Regina, SK to her parents Theresa and David Schoenroth and spent her childhood on the family farm near Jameson, SK. She moved with her family to Regina at the age of 14 and upon moving to the city, Marilyn quickly formed a friendship with her new neighbour Les. Marilyn and Les attended Balfour Collegiate where they became high school sweethearts. Marilyn excelled in English and had a natural talent for creative writing. She graduated high school in the spring of 1968. Marilyn and Les would go on to marry in May of 1969 at the age of nineteen. In the fall of that year, Marilyn and Les would move to Saskatoon where Les attended the Kelsey Institute of Technology to begin his career as a machinist. Marilyn and Les began their new family in Saskatoon in January of 1971 with the birth of their daughter Tracy. In November of 1973, they welcomed their son Michael into the world. Marilyn had many interests and always went all out in every endeavor she was passionate about. She was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan with a zest that was demonstrated by her collection of memorabilia. Marilyn bravely entered the world of entrepreneurship in 1986 when she launched her store, Blinds Plus. That same year, Marilyn and Les purchased a heritage home in Riversdale and over thirty dauntless years, they restored it to its original character and splendor. Family and friends were Marilyn’s greatest joy. She loved spending time with loved ones and her light shone bright at every gathering she attended. Becoming Grandma to her beloved baby Luke was one of Marilyn’s greatest delights. Marilyn had a particular concern about the state of world politics and always stayed on top of current events. She had an intense pride in Michael’s store Glitch and showed her support at every opportunity. Marilyn loved the wilderness and spent many summers camping, fishing, and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Northern Canadian landscape. Marilyn was a woman of many talents, including an exceptional seamstress, an industrious crafter, a skilled baker, and most notably, a gifted cook (especially her famed cabbage rolls). Donations in honour of Marilyn’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society which funds critical cancer research that helps cancer survivors.
