Obituary of Marie Glen
‘So what is time, if not a bucket to fill with the precious moments of life.’
It is both comforting and sad news received recently of the passing of our Aunt Marie (Devoe) Glen on April 5, 2021. We are comforted that she is now in the arms of her predeceased husband John Glen and her immediate family – Parents: Jeremiah Devoe and Ellen (Gibbons) Devoe and her Siblings: Jeremiah Jr, Thomas, Patrick, Edward, Peter, James and Sister Nellie. Marie being both the youngest and the last sibling of her family to pass, tugs at our hearts and reminds us of the precious concept of the ‘passing of time’.
Born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Marie met her husband who was from North Sydney, and as a young married couple they moved to Ontario to start their life together. They did not have children, but we’re confident they made many friends in their new surroundings and throughout their full life to share and celebrate special moments with.
Marie was a beautiful woman as many of her nieces and nephews will remember from her coming home visits back to our island. Visits were full as to make sure she got to spend quality time with her parents and siblings. As most often is the case, Marie had special ties to her sister Nellie and brothers Tom and James, so she and her husband John would stay at the home of our Aunt Nellie and Uncle Joe Day and their daughter Margaret, while visiting from Ontario.
Marie took up residence in her later years at Northland Pointe Nursing home in Port Colborne, Ontario. Many thanks extended to the home for the care provided to our Aunt Marie during her most sensitive years.
Under the care and service of Armstrong Funeral Home & Chapel Inc, Marie will lay at rest beside her dearly beloved husband at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
Sincerely written by Barbara Ann (Devoe) Denbow (niece) at request, and with assistance of brother Charles Vincent Devoe (nephew) and sister Mary Ellen Devoe (niece) – Offspring of James Devoe, brother to Marie.
Rest In Peace Marie
