Obituary of Marie Rachelle Locking
Rachelle Marie Locking (nee Lafrance), 83 years, passed away suddenly at home, on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in North Bay, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Edward Locking (2015). Loving mother of Brian (Ruth) Locking of Ottawa and Linda (Jim) Scott, of Kingsville. Adored Nana of Matthew and Abigail (Ottawa), Andrew (St. Catharines) and Duncan (Lindsay). Predeceased by her parents, Marie Anne and Thomas Lafrance, one brother Joe Lafrance and five sisters, Marcelle Ryan, Marguerite Wallace, Jacqueline Price, Beatrice McCarthy and Suzanne Valiquette.
Rachelle trained as an RN, graduating from the Sudbury School of Nursing in the 1950s, developing skills that would serve her well throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and summers at the cottage on Lake Nosbonsing. Rachelle was a voracious reader and never missed an opportunity to discuss a good book or current event. She devoted time to the Big Sisters Organization. In her later years, time with her grandchildren brought Rachelle great joy. Nana will be dearly missed.
A visitation for family and friends will take place at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. (Masks are Mandatory while in the Funeral Home and please respect Social Distancing). At the family’s request, private service will be held.
