Marie Murray
1937-2020
Marie Helen Murray, of Abercrombie, passed away
Tuesday, December 8, 2020, peacefully, in her home. Born in Yarmouth
on February 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Victor Edward
and Adeline Mary (Cottreau) MacIntosh. Marie was passionate about
music and was known to have a beautiful singing voice. She was always
very kind and able to make personal connections with everyone she met.
You could not escape Marie’s house without having a cup of
tea and decadent homemade sweets. Marie will be sorely missed by many
in the New Glasgow area including her friends at the YMCA, neighbours
in Abercrombie, the congregation at the Church of the Nazarene
(Trenton) and her family at Melmerby Beach. She was predeceased by her
husband, Thomas Melvin “Ike” Murray; son, Patrick Barker.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation due to
Covid-19. A public graveside service will take place at
1 pm Sunday, August 8, in Abercrombie Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care
Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
