Marian Eleanor Whitcomb Hoyt 19242021

Marian Eleanor (Whitcomb) Hoyt
1924-2021
Marian Hoyt of Prince William, NB passed away on December 15,
2021.
Born August 11, 1924 in Upper Gagetown, NB to Harry and Grace (Coy)
Whitcomb and predeceased by her husband Ivan B. Hoyt, 2001, a grandson
Ted Hoyt, 1999; also two sisters Betty Diamond, Edith Frost and a
brother Donald Whitcomb.
Her family moved to New York when she was two. Marian graduated from
high school with honours and worked in New York City until she married
Ivan in 1947. She had a thirst for knowledge and loved to read;
keeping in touch on the computer with family and friends. She enjoyed
gardening; in later years the garden was right outside the front
door.
Marian attended the Farmer’s Market at City Hall with her
mother-in-law, Frances Hoyt, and assisted in forming the Boyce
Farmer’s Market. In 1996 she was inducted into the Atlantic
Association of Women Business Owners Hall of Fame, recognizing her
role as a farm woman entrepreneur. She volunteered countless hours at
Kings Landing Historical Settlement and was a life member. Marian
joined St. Clements Anglican Church with Ivan and was a 50 year plus
member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She collected donations for
the Canadian Cancer Society and Red Cross for many years.
Marian is survived by a daughter Marilee and three sons James, Thomas,
Eugene and their spouses, one grandson Shawn and two granddaughters
Danielle and Gena plus their partners; cousins, nieces and
nephews.
Marilee treated her mother with love and respect, looking after her so
she could remain at home as the years went by. They were known as the
M & M’s, and if you saw one, the other was not far away.
Marian was grateful for her medical team, Dr. M.A. Bramstrup and Dr.
S. Raza and appreciated the love and determination of Lori Shea and
Arlene Rose for keeping her going.
Adhering with Marian’s wishes, there will be no visitation or
funeral service; interment to take place at the Prince William
Cemetery.
“Smile and the world laughs with you; weep and you cry
alone”.
For those who wish, donations to the Prince William Cemetery would be
appreciated or donor’s choice.
Written by Marian Hoyt.
