Peacefully and surrounded by her family after a courageous battle, our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother entered into the Lord’s hands on Thursday December 16th, 2021 in her 84th year.After being windowed at a young age, she worked as a merchant, known as “Maria Jose da Loja” while raising her children. She played the role of mother and father in a time that it wasn’t common. Despite these struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home for her family as well as the less fortunate.She came to canada in 1977 always working hard, she eventually worked her way to the kitchen. Where she became known for her cooking in the portuguese community. Her knowledge and flavours would later guide our families restaurant. People seeking the “Bife do Senhora Maria”. Maria Jose never remarried after the death of her beloved husband, Manuel Perreira Feteira, who predeceased her by 60 years. She is survived by her daughter Filomena Camara (Fernando) son Manuel Feteira (Grace). Most cherished Avo to Diana, Matthew (Louise) Kevin (Mandy) Michael (Kelly) and Avozinha to Ethan, Elycia, Mia, Oliva and Weston. Predeceased by her sisters, Almerinda Raposo (Eduardo), Eduina Raposo (Jose), predeceased by her brothers, João Raposo (Luisa), Manuel Raposo ( Giselle ), will be sadly missed by brothers, Jose Raposo (CONCEICAO) and Gilberto Raposo (neves). Visitation at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL (43 Barton Street East)on Monday December 20th, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday December 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Burlington. In keeping with COVID-19 precautions, all guests are required to practice physical distancing and wear a face covering.Memorial Donations may be made in honour of Maria Jose to the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Bayshore; especially for the care and support provided to us by Rachel during these difficult times.
