Margo Van De Laar Wednesday November 17th 2021

VAN DE LAAR, Margo (nee Shepherd) – It is with broken hearts that we must announce the passing of Margo Joanne Van de Laar at the greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday November 17, 2021 at the age of 82. We can’t imagine a world without her in it. She leaves to mourn her 2 sons David and Timothy (Liza) and the 5 bright lights in her life, her grandchildren Tanner, Bailey, Kennedy, Landon and Dyson. This past February she received her greatest hearts desire when she became a great-grandmother to a beautiful baby girl named Lake. Her beloved sister Sharon Haine (Doug) will miss her greatly, as will her cousins and large extended Van de Laar family. She is predeceased by her husband Bill and her eldest son Kerry. Margo was a proud life-long resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake and was an actively involved community member who volunteered her time and talents for just about anything she was asked. She was a devoted parish member of St. Vincent de Paul Church where she was involved in the Catholic Woman’s League and the Peach Festival. Margo loved anything creative and was a long-time member of Girl Guides of Canada. She was a great cook, baker, loved sewing and quilting. Margo knew people where ever she went and if she didn’t, you would soon be a friend. We were blessed to have her and will miss her everyday.
Under current pandemic conditions, provincial restrictions limit the number of guests at visitations, funerals and interments. All visitors must wear a face mask and practice physical distancing. Margo’s family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 2 to 5 pm. Prayer Vigil will be held at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (73 Picton Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake) on Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 11:30 am. Those who wish to attend the funeral service must register at Margo Van de Laar’s Obituary on Morgan Funeral Home website (www.morganfuneral.com). Cremation will follow with a private family interment at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of charitable donations, please practice random acts of kindness in Margo’s memory.
