Obituary
Sigrun Margaret Pidruchny (nee Kernested)
December 30, 1941 – September 14, 2021
Margaret passed away peacefully at the Gimli Community Health Centre on September 14, 2021 with her husband at her side.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time.
Margaret grew up on the Kjarna farm in Husavik, MB and attended Kjarna School and Matlock School where she met her future husband Fred. She took additional training at Red River Community Extension College and furthered her education with courses in First Aid and CPR, custom framing, photography, computer and advanced accounting. After school Margaret worked for MTS in Gimli, and Winnipeg Beach.
Margaret and Fred were married on September 2, 1961 and had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
In 1976 she began working at the Gimli Community Health Centre where over the years she has handled the switchboard, ambulance/fire, jaws of life dispatch, done accounting and worked as the admitting clerk until her retirement in 2001. She was the proprietor of Picture Framing by KCK, which she operated out of their residence.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Sigridur and Kristjan Kernested, her brothers Bill, Ingimar, Emil and David; infant sister Christine.
She is survived by her husband Fred; sons Kevin (Hope), Craig (Tiffany); daughter Katherine (Rick); grandchildren B.J., Brandon, Rebecca; Justina: Autumn, Kesara, Serafina and Phoenyx: Megan and Ethan and great grandchild Meliya.
Also surviving are her sisters Lilja and Violet and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Adegbesan and the nurses of the Gimli Community Health Centre for their excellent care.
