Obituary
Margaret Ida Barteaux was a beautiful person, kind, generous, and full of grace. A loving wife and mother, she and George farmed and raised two children.
Ida was born on the A. Cottingham farm, daughter of Walter and May Hamilton of Solsgirth. Ida took her schooling in Birtle and clerked in Maduik’s Bakery and Barker’s Drug Store until her marriage to George Barteaux in 1952. They farmed with George’s brothers until 1979, when they retired to town.
George and Ida loved snowmobiling, camping, fishing, spending many summers at Lake of the Prairies. Ida’s mounted trophy pickerel still hangs in the house. One of mom’s biggest enjoyments was hosting special occasion suppers with all her family and many of her favorite recipes have carried on (Ida’s Mustard). Mom always enjoyed growing a garden and maintaining her flower beds and yard.
Ida was a faithful member of St. George’s and was a guide in developing her children and grandchildren’s honest and respectful natures.
Ida was predeceased by her husband George, her parents and brothers, Doug (Pat) Hamilton, Frank (Dorothy) Hamilton, and children Mark and Sandra Hamilton, and brother-in-law Doug Wilson, and her son-in-law Bob Porter.
Ida is survived by her son Fred (Shirley); Children Louise (BJ) Hersak and grandchildren Penny and Ashton, Brooks (Alissa) grandchildren Harrison and Charles, and Kathleen. Daughter Donna and children Amy, Dianne, and Jessica (Mark) Powers with Grandchild, Nova.
Ida also leaves to mourn, her sister, Lillian Wilson.
