Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth Gerke (Walker) passed quickly in Calgary on April 14, 2021 just days before her 96th birthday.
She was predeceased by her husband Doug and son Greg. Left to remember a life well-lived, her smile and her crown of glorious silver hair, is her best friend, her daughter Laurie. Marg was the last surviving sibling of the Walker branch of the family, outliving Tom (Lou), George (Helen), Isabel (Andre) and Doug (Lorraine).
Decades ago she knit over 25 intricate Fisherman Knit Sweaters for friends and family. More recently Marg was known for her tremendous cross stitch pictures adorning every wall and then her shirts.
When not crafting she was very athletic, once representing Alberta at the National Senior Curling Championship. She also enjoyed badminton, fishing and camping before she discovered golf. When Doug retired they golfed up and down the Okanagan Valley until becoming dedicated fixtures at Elbow Springs.
‘Mug’ and ‘Dug’ will now be together, once again walking 36 holes each day on all the beautiful golf courses in heaven with no pain and total love and joy for all. Hit’em straight you guys! You are both forever loved and missed.
We wish to thank all staff involved at the Rockyview Hospital, from EMS, to Emergency and, ultimately, Unit 47.
At her request there will be no service, as her ashes will be spread privately on her favorite golf course.
