Margaret Blanche Margie Smith Mason Saturday July 3 2021

Smith, Margaret Blanche
Margaret Blanche Smith (nee Mason) of Wasaga Beach died at home Saturday, July 3, which was the way she wanted to go, if she had to go, which she most certainly did not.
She was 64.
Margie – as she was affectionately known to most – was the beloved soulmate of Glenn Smith for the last 47 years and then some. They were a team and shared a deep love and trust.
Margie is survived by three children: April and her husband Michael Gennings of Wasaga Beach, Chris and his wife Lora Smith of Whitby, Jenny and her husband Bill Caldwell of Ajax.
Margie is also survived by her mother, Winnie Mason of Wasaga Beach. The two enjoyed a special and close relationship. Margie will be missed by her sisters Annie, Mary and brother Rodie.
Margie is pre-deceased by her father Robie and her brother Robie Jr.
Margie was the proud grandmother of six: Nolan, Carter, Samuel, George, Lily, and Eddie.
Margie’s children meant the world to her but her grandchildren meant the universe and beyond.
Her eldest grandchild Nolan held a special spot in her heart, as most first-born grandchildren do. But Margie had a big heart and there was lots of love to go around for the others as well. Nothing brought greater joy to Margie than having her grandchildren visit. She was particularly pleased in recent years to finally get a granddaughter. The greatest sound to Margie was when grandchildren would burst through the front door and shout “Hi, Grannie!”
Margie enjoyed close relationships with all her children and was blessed to see them frequently. She was proud of their accomplishments.
Throughout her life, Margie showed her love for people with food. Baking, cooking, and barbecuing. Nobody ever left Margie’s house hungry.
Margie enjoyed gardening, golfing, traveling, and entertaining extended family and friends, the latter bringing her significant joy.
She had a good sense of humour and was known to enjoy a rye and 7-UP on occasion. She liked country music, preferably the old stuff.
Margie will be missed by her two grand-dogs Rudy and Kinsey, who she tolerated, and who never stopped trying to win her over. They never did.
Margie will be remembered through stories and tales for many years to come. She lives on in her children and grandchildren who she will no doubt watch over closely.
We don’t get to choose how long we are here, but we do get to choose how we live our life and Margie lived a life filled with love and compassion.
Donations in Margie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held at a yet to be determined date.
