Margaret Annie Cameron 19332021

Margaret Annie Cameron
1933-2021
Cameron, Margaret Annie “Margie” age 87, of
Cribbons Point, Antigonish County, passed away eight days after her
husband of 65 years, Junior, on March 9, 2021 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Middle Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Jack
and Ellen Cook, originally from Scotland.
Margie grew up in Sydney and always took pride in her Cape
Breton roots. She was an Ashby girl and graduated from Sydney
Academy. Margie moved to Antigonish to study
nursing and that’s where she met her true love,
Junior. Margie and Junior loved going skating
together, where she would wear her beautiful racer skates. She
graduated from St. Martha’s School of Nursing
in 1955 and worked at Martha’s Hospital in
the obstetrics department, where she delivered numerous babies over
the years. She later embarked on a career as a successful real estate
agent until she retired at age 75. Margie and Junior moved
to Cribbons Point, and they spent countless hours on the beach,
surrounded by family and friends. One of her favorite things to do was
to watch Sidney Crosby play with the Pittsburgh
Penguins. Margie was known for her kindness,
welcoming heart, sense of humor, and her strong love for her children.
Margie’s kids were everything to her, and she was so proud
of them. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed watching all
their hockey and soccer games.
She is survived by her children, Cathy (Robert) Johnson,
Dartmouth; Margaret Ann (Andy Hirt), Antigonish; Tricia, Antigonish;
Allan (Rachel), Duncan, BC; and Stephanie (Craig) Pitcher, Bedford;
grandchildren, Alexandra MacDonnell and Sarah, Owen, and Sophie
Pitcher.
Margie is predeceased by her husband, Allan D.
“Junior”; grandson, Robbie Johnson; sister, Ellen Johnson;
and brother, John Cook.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation and a funeral will be held in St. Columba Church, Lakevale,
when COVID restrictions have lifted.
In Memoriam, donations to the St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital Foundation and Children’s Wish Foundation
appreciated.
The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to the
staff in the Palliative Care Department of St. Martha’s for
the excellent care they provided for both Margie and
Junior.
