Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Loving husband of Elizabeth (Monigl) for 59 years.
Much loved dad to Claudia and David (predeceased in 1994).
Fondly remembered by his brother-in-law, Wilbert Gunsch.
Treasured uncle of Steven (Carol) and Dan (Carolyn) and his grandnieces Danielle (Scott) and Melanie (Jake).
Predeceased by his parents Bernhard and Maria, brother Karl-Heinz, nephew Ralf and sister-in-law Clara.
Manfred was a master craftsman, known for building solid wood furniture. He proudly built the wooden front door of Soleil Restaurant, the entry doors of Saint Michael’s Church and completed intricate interior wood work at Our Lady of Lourdes and Blessed Sacrament churches.
Manfred’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 Laurentian Drive, Kitchener. Cremation to follow.
Those wishing to attend Manfred’s visitation and service must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region or Trinity Village Care Centre would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
Special thanks to Ana-Maria, Margaret, Dr. Casey and all the staff at Trinity Village Care Centre for their exceptional care of Manfred.
