Malcolm’s Obituary
STODDARD, Malcolm “Dale”, Port Clyde, It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing at home of our father Dale, on May 14th, 2021, at the age of 77. Born February 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Douglas and Helen (Harris) Stoddard. Dad started his career as a civil servant with the Department of Defence. This led him to Northern Ontario to airforce bases in Moosonee, Ontario and Goose Bay, Labrador where he began his family. Dad purchased the store in Clyde River in 1978 and renamed it Dale’s Grocery Ltd. This allowed Mom and Dad to move back to Port Clyde and continue to grow their family. Dad was very involved in his community. Always willing to lend a hand. Saying he loved to drive is an understatement. He drove many kilometres taking people to their appointments in Kentville and Halifax. There were, also, many social visits to Roseway Manor to check in on friends. Dad loved to play cards and was an avid bowler, including many national competitions. Whether it was attending conventions or helping with elections, you could always find Dad somehow involved in politics. One of his greatest enjoyments in his later years was attending church with his sisters. Dad enjoyed meeting all the many people he encountered throughout his life. We are all sure everyone has that special story or the “few” jokes Dad has told them. We would like to thank VON (Barrington-Shelburne). You have been extremely supportive through this difficult time and may not realize what a blessing you have been. You deserve much more than a thank you. Words are just not enough to express our gratitude for your kindness to our family. Our family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. W. H. Blair. Dale is survived by, his wife, Margaret (Belliveau) Stoddard; sons, Byron (Lacey) Stoddard, Springhill; Alex (Cavell) Stoddard, Brass Hill; daughters, Crystal (Jamie) Atwood, Goose Lake;Alexandra (Matt) Stoddard, Port Clyde; brother, Kendall (Betty) Stoddard, Port Clyde; sisters, Anna Heyob, Port Clyde; Mary (Bill) Williams, Port Clyde; Marsha (Bob) Badry, Nelson BC; grandchildren, Dakota, Dallas, Denver, Dawson, Amelia, Jessica, Jacob, Caihlan, Bella, Abbalyn, Aiden, Roman, Chance, Mattix; great-grandchildren, Summer and Callie. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother, Robert “Bobby” Stoddard. Arrangements have been entrusted to H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be a family graveside at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VON (Barrington).
