Dr. Makhan Singh Taneja
Another one of the midnight’s children has left for his heavenly abode. The famous eulogy to the tragedy of partition of India by Salman Rushdie aptly suits my Dad’s earlier life. The violence and mayhem that accompanied his birth gave him poverty, tragedy and uncertainty. Yet, influenced by his wonderful father and family, he grew up to become a joyous, conscious and deeply empathetic human. He not only gave us an excellent upbringing and opportunity to pursue our dreams, he was also a man of character whose moral code is very hard to emulate. Makhan Singh had great love for education, books, knowledge and adventure. He was a devoted father and loving husband who will be deeply missed and admired by us and other people whose life he has touched.
