Obituary
Promoted to Glory on September 26, 2021, Major Joan Catherine Stratton (retired Salvation Army) aged 89 years, at Glenbrook Lodge, with husband and daughter at her bedside.
Sadly missed by the love of her life of 70 years, husband Major Raymond George Stratton; daughter Paulette (David Roberts, dec); sons Laurie (Aimee), Arthur; grandchildren Lauren Roberts (Michael Horning), Luke, Emma (Cody Blanchard), Taylor, Ethan; brothers Edwin (Phyllis), David (Margaret); brothers/sisters-in-law and other extended family members and close friends.
Predeceased by parents Arthur and Mary Hiscock; brother Dean (Joan, dec); son-in-law David Roberts.
We would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff of The Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge who gave such amazing and loving care, especially the staff of Unit 1 B/C.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s on Thursday September 30th, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday October 1st, 2021 at 11:00am from the Salvation Army St. John’s Temple on Torbay Road. To attend this service please call 579-6007 from the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm on Wednesday September 29th and from the hours of 9am-3pm on Thursday September 30th. The service will be livestreamed through the Salvation Army Temple Facebook page for those who cannot attend. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
No flowers at request of deceased. Donations may be made to the “Parkinson Society NL” or The Salvation Army St. John’s Temple Corps.
