MacDonald, Evangeline of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully on September 5, 2021 at the age of 84.
Vange will be forever remembered and sadly missed by her sister Margaret Johnson; her brother Douglas (Betty Mae) MacDonald; her stepsister Edith Ann (Marcel) Potvin. Her nieces and nephews: Linda (Scott) Lamoureux, Carol Johnson, Scott (Ursula) MacDonald, Deborah (Michael) Morneault, and James (Corry) MacDonald, fondly remember her wonderful baking and love of reading. Vange was a dear great aunt to great nephews, great nieces, and a great-great nephew.
She was predeceased by her father John James MacDonald; mother Rose Zalizniak (MacDonald) (nee Pundyk); sister Leona “Lee” MacDonald and brother-in-law David Johnson.
A dedicated teacher with Edmonton Public Schools (1958-1994), Vange taught thousands of students during her career at Strathcona Composite, Victoria Composite, Ritchie Junior High School, and Riverbend Junior High. She was active with the University of Alberta Faculty of Home Economics and the Historic McKay Avenue School Archives & Museum. Vange was always aware of those who were less fortunate, especially children, and gave to those in need. Many lives have been touched by her generosity.
A special thank you to the staff at Extendicare Eaux Claires (Units 1300 and 2300) for the excellent care and support they gave to Vange.
In lieu of flowers, Vange’s wish was to have memorial donations made to Operation Eyesight at operationeyesight.com or a charity of choice.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
