Obituary
Hill, Lucille (Bélisle)
August 26th, 1933 – December 13, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the Hill Family regrets to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved and loving mother Lucille (Lou) at the age of 88, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, on the afternoon of December 13th. With the warm rays of the sun on her face, the sparkle of her brilliant blue eyes left us.
Loving wife and best friend for 32 years of Vern Hill (predeceased 1985). Cherished Mother to her four children Karen (Michelle), Cheryl (Dan), Murray (Michelle) and Glen (Kim). Treasured Mémère to four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two honourary great grandchildren.
Lou was the spirited and independent third child of the late Phillip and Alice Bélisle. She will be sadly missed by her sister Alice McNally, and many nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Born and raised in Témiscaming, Quebec, Mom lived a full adventurous life. At a young age, she swam across the Ottawa river on a dare. She soon discovered that tennis was her passion, and as a teenager, rose to become Northern Ontario Junior Women’s Champion. Lou also served her community as President of the Legion’s Women’s Auxiliary in Témiscaming.
Mom and Dad loved to spend as much time as possible at their “slice of heaven” at camp in McLaren’s Bay. Many a good time and late nights were had, with lifelong friends and wonderful memories shared throughout the years.
Mom was one of a kind. She was always the happiest when surrounded by her family. She thoroughly loved playing cards and going to the casino with her sisters Rachel and Alice. Her talent for cooking and baking her wonderful butter tarts, jam-jams and pies will most certainly be missed…especially at Christmas!!
Her generous and loving nature was unmatched, and this will be the most enduring part of her legacy.
The Family wants to extend their heartfelt and sincere thanks to Dr. Wendy Graham for her care, compassion and friendship through the years. We also wish to thank the remarkable people of Nipissing Serenity Hospice, who ensured that the final part of Mom’s journey was filled with extraordinary care, dignity and grace.
Respecting Mom’s wishes, cremation will take place, and final arrangements entrusted to Hillside Funeral Services. A celebration of this extraordinary woman will take place in Spring 2022. In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family would be grateful for donations to Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay.
