Louvaina May Richardson
March 23, 1938 – February 14, 2021
Lou passed away on February 14, 2021 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents James and Martha Hatton and her sister Muriel Burkholder.
Louvaina was born and raised in Powell River, BC. She worked as a dispatcher for Westview Taxi there and later managed a campground at Haslam Lake.
In 1978, Lou and the boys moved to Barriere BC to be closer to her parents. She spent time volunteering for Barriere Search & Rescue to help them fundraise for much needed equipment.
Lou made quite a circle of friends in Barriere. Lots of good coffee times and of course BINGO!
Louvaina loved spending time with her family and especially treasured her time spent with each of her grandsons.
Louvaina is survived by her brother Jim (Irene) Hatton and sons Alan (Donna), David, Gerald (Leah) and Kenneth. She is also survived by her grandsons, Mathew (Amanda), Trevor, Arlo and Jett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff from the Barriere Medical clinic for all their care and kindness for the many years Lou resided in Barriere. Also, to everyone at the Yellowhead Pioneer Residence for the time she lived there. And finally, to all the care aids, nurses and staff at the Hamlets at Westsyde Kamloops, her final home.
