Louise Rose Fox Benoit Friday November 19th 2021

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother, who passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the age of 88. Loving mother of Richard (Elaine Payant), Dennis (Dorothée Grandjean), Joanne (Daniel Hector), Marc (Donna Taylor) and Diane. Dear sister of Adèle Jackson (Norm) of Cold Lake, Alberta. Grandmother of Liane and Josée (Ben Gratton) Fox, Alexanne Galipeau, Nicholas and Éléonore Fox, Emily and Isabelle Hector, Matt Fair (Alanna), Benoît and Renée Lafrance. Great grand-mother of Cloé Fox, Gavin, Austin and Arlen Fair. Predeceased by her parents Rosario Benoit and Mabel (nee Provost), siblings John (Gaye), Madeleine LeVoguer (Rae), Françoise Nugent (Robert), Claire Wilson (Ronald), André (Sandra), Hubert (Ghislaine) and Michel (Nicole) Benoit.
Mom was the first of her siblings to leave her village of Crysler for Ottawa, to attend school followed by a career. Her heart always remained in Crysler. She had a rewarding 35-year career with the Federal Government and was grateful for the career opportunities she had. She was a devoted mother who welcomed friends in our home and spent winters driving us to arenas. She volunteered on the Women’s Auxiliary and organized food for end of season banquets. In retirement, Mom cared for her grand-children, did genealogy research, volunteered at the Shepherd’s of Good Hope “soup kitchen”, quilted beautiful blankets, visited the elderly in her parish and enjoyed travelling. She supported many charities such as Christie Lake Kids and The Ottawa Food Bank. Mom was a dedicated Catholic who was active in her church. Thank you to Oakpark Community, MLC Care Services, Dr. R. Farey and Dr. J. Cotter for your exceptional and compassionate care of our lovely Mom. We will miss her and are grateful for her example of constancy, kindness, compassion, perseverance, patience and hard work. One could ask for no better role model.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and her cremated remains will be placed at Notre Dame Cemetery during a private interment with her immediate family. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) Ottawa, on Saturday, December 4th at 1:30 pm. Following Covid protocols, the family has requested that attendance be only available to fully vaccinated guests. Proof of vaccination and identification will be required for entry with masks being mandatory. As space is limited, all guests must register in advance. To RSVP, please visit the bottom of Louise’s obituary page . For those who wish to participate virtually, please use the link provided below. We regret that the Covid situation is preventing us from hosting a reception afterward.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Ottawa Food Bank (www.ottawafoodbank.ca) or Christie Lake Kids Camp (www.christielakekids.com).
