Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend. Louise passed away at the Rosetown Health Centre on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
Louise was born on January 28, 1927 to Jacob and Katherine (Sieben) Rollheiser on the family farm at Grossweder, SK. She was the 2nd of 13 children. She received her education at Palm School. After her education she worked for families in the area and as far away as Eston SK. She then went to work at St Joseph’s Hospital in Macklin SK, first in the kitchen and then was promoted to nurse’s aid. This was followed by a job in an apple packing house in Rutland BC. Louise arrived in Rosetown on February 2, 1950 by train. She went to work for Dr. And Mrs. Ranson.
She met Leo Bertolo in Rosetown, soon they were dating and were married October 7, 1950 at St Anthony’s Church at Grossweder. Following their wedding they lived briefly in Vancouver and Vegerville. In 1952, they returned to Rosetown to raise their family. In July of 1969 they moved to Kelowna for 1 year and returned to Rosetown where they have resided since.
Leo and Louise were blessed with 6 daughters and she perfected the role of a mother and homemaker. These 6 daughters then grew to include son in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Louise was a member of the CWL for 67 years. She volunteered her time and knitting skills to the Red Cross. She loved to garden both vegetables and flowers. She was a fabulous baker and was sure to have the grandchildren’s favourites on hand.
Leo and Louise enjoyed 35 years of summers and a few winter trips at their cabin at Aquadeo Beach. They also took various bus trips to different destinations in the USA. They enjoyed travelling to see their daughters in various locations in Canada.
Louise was predeceased by her daughter Susan, siblings Lena, Benedict, Rudy, Rose, Wendel and Wilfred as well as Leo’s siblings and their spouses.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Leo.
Her daughters, Marilyn (Bob) Long, Carolyn (Drew) Goddard, Jeanne (Ben) Lahnemann, Barb (Darrell) Wiebe, Laurie (Kim) Evans and son in law John Olson.
Her grandchildren, Carrie (Curtiss) Knight, Chris (Lori) Churchman, Aaron (Nikki) Churchman, Megan (Ric) Day, Matthew (Kelsey) Goddard, Steven (Melissa) Evans, Bradley (Colette) Evans, Daniel (Brittany) Evans and Kristopher Olson.
Her great grandchildren, Cheyanne(Ben), Caitlyn, Ksenya, Eva, Dayton, Hayden, Dane, Fox, Soren, Hayes, Hendrix, Jack, Halle and great great grandson Jasper.
Louise is also survived by her remaining siblings Barbara, Tony, Greg, Imelda, Armella and Dorothy as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Vigil of Prayer will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 7:30pm at St Theresa’s Parish in Rosetown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00am at St Theresa’s Parish in Rosetown.
