Louise’s Obituary
Kenney Van Norden, Louise Joan – 73, born November 5, 1947 in Clark’s Harbour at the home of her grandparents, Hugh and Orlena Nickerson. Passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her daughter Kathi by her side. Louise grew up on several military bases and as a young woman was active in several sports. She shared her singing talent everywhere she lived and was noted as a soloist in several church choirs as well as participated in many talent shows. As an adult, she was actively involved with Girl Guides and coached the Barrington girls soft ball team for many years. Later in life, after caring for her husband, she was a volunteer with the Causeway Salvation Army. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children, although they lived away from each other, she was still able to maintain a loving and nurturing relationship with them all. Her heart filled with joy with the birth of each grandchild and then great grandchild. Louise’s friendly smile and humor will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Herman Clarence William Van Norden (JR) and her parents Hugh (JR) and Anna (Bray) Nickerson. She is survived by her daughters, Kathi Kenney-Byrne (Lou)- Fort McMurray, AB , Kristi Kenney – Greenville, PEI and Son: Charles (Sam) Kenney – New Minas, NS as well as grandchildren: Kate-Lynn Hick, Karley Hicks, Ashley Kenney and Jackson Kenney, her great grandchildren: Jonah, Kristopher, Kameryn and Kaysee, Niece Rebecca (Becky) Crowell (Jamie), Great Nephew Layne Crowell and her constant companion Trigger. A special thank you to her friends and neighbors who checked on her regularly and been very supportive during her last days, Don and Lori Randell, Kim Sutherland and Darren Nickerson as well as the Barrington Passage Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors who managed her comfort at the Yarmouth Hospital. At Louise’s request she has been cremated and there will not be a formal service. Internment will take place at the Port Clyde Cemetery with immediate family only. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilsons Funeral Home, Barrington. A message from Louise:
Parenthood is a way for adults to bring their inner childhood out; at the same time being aware of the responsibility they must prepare our wonderful gifts to be adults who are ready to handle life’s hardships. On the other hand, being a Grandparent is the reward for being a good Parent!
